ITALY OR GERMANY?

Today, June 28th 2012, Italy or Germany will win something or lose something. For Italy we have Mario Monti and for Germany we have Angela Merkel.

Ops …

I have realised that neither Monti nor Merkel are football players.

Ok, let’s write two parts. One related to the one game and another related to the other game.

Let’s begin with the game played in Warsaw.

ITALY or GERMANY?

Well, it is quite difficult for me to answer. I know people in both countries and I like both countries … As Catalan and Castilian are Latin languages like the Italian language maybe THE.CAT should be in favour of Italy. On the other hand if Italy wins then Spain should play against Italy. And as Catalan, Castilian and Italian are Latin languages maybe it is not so exciting?

A final between Germany and Spain has the advantage that it can look as a fight between Angela Merkel austerity and the South of Europe ask for eurobonds. It is a game between two contrasted parts of the eurozone! On the other hand a final between Italy and Spain does not seem so exciting as Italy and Spain do not represent opposite parts of the eurozone. But at the same time if Spain plays against italy, even if the match can not be so exciting, it also means that Germany has lost. So Italy against Spain would be maybe not so exciting but a confirmation that Germany cannot the winner in  football.

So, as I love Germany and Italy and as I have reasons to wish that both win I just hope that the best wins … Or should I wish the opposite so that it is better for Spain ..?

Anyway, football is football and I envy those who see in football the representation of a whole country. Would it not be wonderful that by winning the Euro2012 the country who wins has less debts?

Well, let’s go now to the other game this time taking place today and tomorrow in Brussels. Here we have a lot of players but the ones that seem more rigid in their views are player Mario Monti and player Angela Merkel.

Mario Monti wants Germany to save Italy and Angela Merkel does not want to save any country if she cannot control what is going on in each country.

Mario Monti has the advantage of been supported by almost all the rest of the eurozone (I say almost) and by the EU and even by the IMF and Obama. Angela Merkel is almost alone. She is the one with the big wallet and the rest want her to open the wallet.

So, what will happen? Will a majority force Angela to open her wallet?

I think not because Angela Wallet, in contrast to other politicians, is a responsible one, and she knows that the money in her wallet, is not hers but from the German tax payer!

How lucky the Germans are! I wish I had a politician who take care of my taxes as Angela does.

Some may say that if Angela does not open the wallet then the eurozone will break apart. Well, I am sure that Angela Merkel does not want that but if the price for a single currency is for Germany to pay the bill I think Angela is right in not opening the bill.

Germany should show solidarity to the poorest countries in the planet where people are really in nned. But to open the wallet to the rest of Europe is not solidarity. It is robbery.

So to end, in Poland I do not know who I want to win but in Brussels I want to win Angela Merkel. If Mario Monti wins then Germany will collapse sooner or later.  The same way that has happened to Catalonia after decades and decades of opening the wallet to the rest of Spain. Now most Catalonians want independence. If Angela Merkel accepts to pay the bill I am sure that the next party to rule Germany would be a party that would put Germany out of the euro.

If we want the eurozone to succeed it is necessary that each part can work properly on its own. Angela, do not give up! Your measures are hard, but in the end if the rest of Europe follows them we will have a very strong Europe. If you give up we will have a Europe similar to current Spain: parts that need always cash from other parts and that are always calling them lacking solidarity while other parts fed up of so much solidarity. In Spain solidarity has not solved anything. Now Spain has needed a bailout for its banks. What makes a state progress is acting responsibly around.

If Spain had suffered a terrible earthquake or tsunami I would be the first to ask Angela Merkel to open her wallet. But I do not want to ask for her wallet so that civil servants in Spain do not need their wages to be cut while in Catalonia the civil servants have had their wages cut for months!

EUROZONE WINS EURO 2012

The euro is a disaster, the eurozone is a disaster, they say,  but, what a strange thing …, the best four teams that will play the semifinals and the final all, I repeat all, all share the same currency, THE EURO. So one could say that the eurozone has won the EURO 2012. If Germany wins a eurozone member will have won the Euro 2012. If Itally wins a eurozone member will have won the Euro 2012. If Portugal wins a eurozone member will have won the Euro 2012. If Spain wins a eurozone member will have won the Euro 2012.

So, when some media attack always the eurozone I am extremely happy that in football, at least, the eurozone can be very proud of its success.

FRANCE, GERMANY, ITALY AND SPAIN DECIDE TODAY IN ROME THE FUTURE OF EUROPE

We are living in amazing incredible times. Some days ago the vote in greece could have changed the course of the euro.

Today there is an incredible very important meeting in Rome. In Rome. Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire and the birth place of the current European project.

France, Germany, Italy and Spain are the more powerful economies of the eurozone.

Today Holland, Monti, Rajoy and Merkel will decide what to do with the euro. Three men and a woman. Three men who speak Latin languages and a woman speaking a Germanic language.

It is incredible. Two thousand years ago Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire. Hispania and Galia were part of the Roman empire. Germany was the land of the barbarians. Now 2000 years later Germany is not the land of the Barbarians but of the most economocally successful country in the EU!

So, if you have told people two thousand years ago that 2000 years later the power had shifted to the once Barbarians they could not believe that!

But in some way, things have changed and have not changed! There are still two sides! The Latin side and the Germanic side!

As they are three and she is just one one could imagine that they should be the ones to win if there is a choice of two options. Germany is very powerful but the GDP of ancient Roman empire lands (France, Italy and  Spain) is bigger than just the GDP of Germany.

So what will happen? Of the four people in the meeting Mariano Rajoy seems to me the tallest one. The smallest GDP country of the four having the tallest man.

I try to imagine the way the four can feel between them. And I am sorry to say I do not see good feelings between Hollande and Merkel. I only see Monti and Rajoy as men who may have something in common.

I wonder where they meet in Rome.

SPAIN COULD BECOME LITTLE EUROPE

Spain

IBERIA

Imagine people from around Europe coming to Spain with its own factories, school teachers, etc.

Spain now has a lot of very cheap flats and houses. I think about 800000 houses or flats.

So, people from around Europe could live in Spain and feeling like at home. You only need to create the conditions to create communities.

So imagine people coming form Germany. They would come with their own jobs from Germany. And even from their own teachers. By doing that they would create a kind of German community. The same could be done with people from France, Italy, UK, etc.

As Spain is full of jobless people these people would come with their own jobs. Instead of working in cloudy and cold Europe they would be working in the sunny side of Europe. I am thinking about communities of about 100 people each, for example.

So, Spain could become quite an interesting place, not just for its current weather, beaches and art, but because it could become a Little Europe! A kind of Little Eurozone.

This would help selling the houses in Spain, people from Germany, etc would be able to live in Spain having their own cheap house and at the same time feeling like at home because they would come to a German community in Spain. And once in Spain, the German who wants to be with Germans all the time would be with Germans but the one who would like to know other people maybe would find a flat in a city with other people from Spain or other new communities!

If Europe is going to bailout Spain then maybe it would be a good idea that Europe feels that is helping not just Spanish people but any European living in Spain. This would help to make transfers of money between European countries more acceptable!

The German paying taxes to a bailout of Spain would be also bailing out a country with German communities!

The Mediterranean coast could be full of French, Italian, German, British etc citizens living here! The houses are so cheap! I am sure that some jobs that are made in Germany, etc, could be transferred to Spain.

SPAIN AND ITALY TO BE BAILOUT

This is what can be read on telegraph.co.uk. If this is true I have a lot of reasons to be angry. Why should I know this in a foreign newspaper and in such a newspaper like The Telegraph?

This is quite crazy. A British newspaper talking about such a bailout when in the rest of the press you cannot read nothing of that sort.

If The Telegraph is right then I hope somebody explains how The Telegraph knows that and the rest no. And if it is fall maybe Spain and Italy should bring this newspaper to the court. Because this a very serious news.

Oh. my God. We just need that tomorrow Putin says that he may throw a nuclear bomb to the eurozone to complete the present with total disaster.

Anyway, I am going to sleep as always. I am fed up of been hijacked by fear. The more fear they want to put on us the less I should care.

WHO WOULD BAILOUT GERMANY?

Once Spain receives its bailout, lite or not, sooner or later, the eyes of the world will look into Italy. With maybe a bit of Greek tragedy in the middle. If the Greek tragedy does not become real then I am afraid that the next piece to fall could be Italy. This may happen in one year, who knows. Once Italy falls, the next year it could be the time for France. So, once France has fallen, it is the time for Germany.

What I mean with all this is that it is time that Europe finds a DEFINITIVE solution.

I am afraid that once Europe defaults then the US will default too. And then China.

All this would not mean an immediate world war but with the world in hunger and poverty I am sure that no good news can come.

In 1936 Spain entered a very dark time. Three years later WWII was a reality.

So, it is time to think what we really want to do. I caanot believe that it is years we are with the eurozone crisis!

TWO STUDENTS KILLED BY BOMB IN ITALY

I cannot believe this news. A bomb has exploded in Italy killing two students. It is not known if the bomb is related to Mafia.

All the people of Italy have my support against this terrible act. How can this happen in the 21st century?

Now there ate two more possible names to put to the schools of Italy. The names of the two girls killed today.

UK AND ITALY ROW IS A SHAME

I just have read that there there is a row between the UK and Italy about a terrible event that has happened in Nigeria. It is quite possible that Italy is right and the UK has made a mistake o maybe Italy has made a mistake by attacking the action UK.

I have my personal view about what has happened but here I don’t want to talk about that. Here I just want to show my dismay about the row. I feel that terrorist must be quite happy reading about this row. It is true that I understand that any of the two countries is right to say what it wants but it is a pity that the disagreement is made in the public arena. The more the row continues the more powerful the terrorists  become.

The people behind the row should think if by saying the things they are saying they are improving something or just putting more chaos in this part of the world.

So shame on the one who did the things wrongly in Nigeria and shame on the one who instead of trying to solve the things in a diplomatic way just goes and attacks another friendly country. The enemy of the UK is not Italy and the enemy of Italy is not the UK. The enemy is the one who kidnapped their citizens!

THE FALL OF BERLUSCONI IS BAD NEWS

Silvio Berlusconi in a meeting

SILVIO BERLUSCONI

Some days ago I was sad as I saw people in Italy cheering up because Berlusconi was not more their prime minister. I think that it was not good for Italy to have such a man as prime minister but I think it is not good either the way he is out of power.

In general I dislike Berlusconi although I must admit that sometimes I find him funny. He seems to me the kind of man that you love with passion or you hate with passion.

But although I was always wishing that Berlusconi was out of Italian government I feel that the reasons for its departure are a big worry. Berlusconi should have left the government because of the scandals or the words he said about Angela Merkel. But strange as it may seem to me, since he is out of the Italian government I like Berlusconi a bit.

As we have a common currency it is obvious that countries should act accordingly so it was wrong that Berlusconi promised to the eurozone to bring austerity measures and then not comply with his promises.

But there is something wrong about what has happened because it can be the seed of future extremism.

I like Angela Merkel and I like Germany. I have been there and I love the way things go. But I think there is the danger that Germany tells us us what to do and we, “the poor and lazy people of the south” cannot say a word!

The eurozone is controlled by Germany. But who controls Germany? The bonds of Spain and Italy (and france, etc) are having problems while the German ones take advantage of this? Is this fair?

I have the feeling as if Italy and Greece are run from Berlin. Spain is also run from Berlin but as we do as they tell us they let us play theatre and imagine that we still have our own government and our own elections and so on.

Anyway, I imagine that in Italy there must be also people who disliked Berlusconi who realise that the fall of Berlusconi, IN THIS WAY, has not really been good. The judges and the citizens were the ones who should have decided his future. Unfortunately this unexpected fall will have repercussions in the future, I am afraid.

WILL GERMANY ALSO FALL?

It is a week more or less since my last post here and news from the eurozone have become even worse, if that is possible. Greece is in disarray and now Italy has entered danger zone. Today Spain seems to be also approaching day by day the danger zone. I wonder if this will happen in some days or just in some weeks.

So we all know all this is bad news: Greece, Ireland, Portugal and now Italy in the queue with Spain also near.

So I just have a worry. All this that has happened has been too bad for the eurozone. But until now we had the bailout countries, the countries with debt problems and then we had Germany.

My worry is that Germany may also fall. Not tomorrow but maybe in one year or two. If this ever happens then I think that Europe would be entering again a darker period of its history.

Some years ago nobody imagined the current situation. So I don’t think it is impossible now anything.

I just hope that even if Europe breaks apart at least some part of Europe remains strong. Maybe it is time not to think about Germany helping the rest of the eurozone but helping Germany to resist.
