The Catalan old Roman city of Tarragona has been chosen to host the 2017 Mediterranean Games. Who knows, maybe the 2017 will be the first Mediterranean Games were both sides of the Mediterranean Sea enjoy democracy and freedom.
To all who do not know Tarragone let’s just say that Tarragona was once the capital of the Roman province that the Romans had in this part of Europe. It is full of Roman remaints and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Near Tarragona you have places like the touristic town of Salou and the comercial city of Reus.
In 1955 the Mediterranean Games already took place in Barcelona. Tarragona is south of Barcelona at less than 100 km. The closest airport to Tarragona is the Reus Airport.
